Plenty of Rangers Fans Are Sick and Tired of Bruno Alves

Rangers fans are coming to terms with today’s defeat to bitter rivals Celtic, and many of them are laying the responsibility for the loss at the feet of Bruno Alves.

The 36-year-old centre-back arrived at Ibrox last summer and looked like something of a coup for the Glasgow giants, but things really haven’t panned out too well for the former Fenerbahce, Porto and Zenit defender.

Injuries and poor form have hampered his time in the Scottish Premiership, but he was thrown into today’s Old Firm clash by Graeme Murty, with the Gers boss looking to clearly draw on his wealth of experience next to rookie David Bates.

But despite having 94 caps for Portugal, Alves just couldn’t cope with the Hoops attack, and looked particularly suspect for Moussa Dembele’s crucial goal just before half-time.

Alves has a deal until the summer of 2019 – but it doesn’t look like he’s particularly wanted anymore:

He played a part in his country winning the European Championships in 2016 but does he really have nothing to offer Rangers?
