News of Charlie Mulgrew Captaining Scotland Gets a Mixed Reaction From Fans

Charlie Mulgrew will captain Scotland against Costa Rica tomorrow night, but the news seems to have divided a sizeable chunk of the Tartan Army.

The versatile defender has enjoyed a stellar season with Blackburn Rovers – albeit in England’s third tier – and has bagged an impressive 12 goals despite playing most of the campaign in defence.

The 32-year-old will win his 32nd cap in tomorrow evening’s friendly against the World Cup-bound North Americans, meaning he’ll probably be the most experienced outfield player, and new boss Alex McLeish has seen fit to hand him the armband.

A lot of supporters are delighted for the former Celtic man, but whilst Mulgrew hasn’t been given the responsibility on a permanent basis just yet, that hasn’t stopped some fans from voicing their displeasure at the choice:

What do you think of the news?

Should McLeish have went for someone else? And does Mulgrew have any chance at all of being Scotland’s permanent skipper going forward?
