Video: Danny Welbeck Wins and Scores Hugely Controversial Penalty for Arsenal

Danny Welbeck sent Gianluigi Donnarumma the wrong way with his penalty kick to score a crucial equaliser for Arsenal tonight… but the decision to point to the spot looked a hugely questionable one.

AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu appeared to pile pressure on the Gunners as he opened the scoring for the visitors just after the half-hour mark.

However, it didn’t take Arsenal long to make their way up the other end of the pitch and begin to cause problems for Gennaro Gattuso’s men.

And it was during one of these moves that Switzerland international Ricardo Rodriguez was judged to have brought Welbeck down in the penalty area, despite replays showing a serious lack of contact between the pair:

It does appear a very harsh decision, especially as the Serie A giants looked very capable of mounting a comeback prior to Welbeck’s spot-kick.

Luckily, Milan have refused to rest since the England international levelled proceedings, here’s hoping it’s still a good contest!
