Netflix have added football drama ’21 Thunder’ as part of their March 2018 releases – and Scottish football fans will see a familiar face in Ryan O’Leary.

The former Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Dundee defender – who also has two Scotland Under 21 caps – swapped football for making it in Hollywood back in 2014.

He played for Orange County Blues between 2013 and 2014, but called time on football completely four years ago and he’s been trying to create a career in acting ever since.

And O’Leary has done not bad – although he’s had to change his name to Ryan Pierce, presumably in an attempt to fit in more over in the US.

From what we can find, he’s not starred in anything of note apart from ’21 Thunder’, which initially premiered on Canada’s CBC Network last year.

But now he could be set to win some more fans after Netflix added the drama series to their platform.

O’Leary stars as Davey Gunn and looks to have a significant role based on the trailer for the series. You can see him elbowing the main character before kissing another character later on:

Unfortunately, there is no footage of O’Leary playing as far as we can see – but no doubt there will be some footage of him in action in some episodes.

All episodes have been added to Netflix now so you can get straight to binging it and finding out if O’Leary has what it takes for a big career in Hollywood.
