Last Saturday the 14th of April there was action throughout the country though you would have struggled to see the headlines around the country lit up, but halls certainly were with honest endeavour and the types of contests that keep the fuel burning for the bright lights.
In Leicester super featherweight action for the British title saw Sam Bowen stop Maxi Hughes in the 8th round and take the title whilst in Cardiff the EBU female super flyweight fight between Ashley Brace and Xebia Jorneac was settled on points with Brace taking it.
in Airdrie BIBA were decimated by injuries and call offs as only one fight survived. Attendees saw lightweight action between two debutants as Paul Brannen beat Danny Tinklin on points with Tinklin losing a point in the third round for the use of heads; neither were particularly innocent but novices will be novices. Disappointing though only one fight may be, you get the impression that now the ground ha been broken, more shall come through. This very weekend, they are in my home town of Ayr…
Staying in Scotland it was a massive night on Thursday the 19th of April, in Glasgow when the St Andrew’s Club also suffered some minor difficulties as Gary Jacobs, Scott McDonald, James McFadden, Gary Teale and Scott “Title Taker” Allen watched on as Callen McAuley beat Spaniard Reynaldo Mora, late replacement Luke Fash faced Ahmed Ibrahim in a non title fight on a days notice with Ibrahim winning on points whilst son of the Rock, Martin Harkin got up off the floor in the 3rd round to beat Serge Ambomo in a tough and exciting headliner.
