The Reds announced earlier today that Buvač was taking a break from his duties until at least the end of the season, with the Bosnian coach dealing with family issues in his personal life.
He and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp have enjoyed a 17-year partnership together, and won the German Bundesliga title together at Borussia Dortmund.
It remains to be seen if Buvač will return in the long-term but Klopp will need another assistant in the meantime, and plenty of supporters seem to think Gerrard is the man to fill the void – despite his strong links to the Rangers job:
Couldn't Gerrard slot into the first team assistant managers post now ZB has left???? He would learn more from JK than watching the football up there… And in pole position when the time come…. Just saying

Guess this the perfect time to bring #Gerrard in as Klopp’s assistant if only Buvac is leaving and the stories are true

Gerrard as Assistant anyone?
Get him out of the Rangers thing.

Make Gerrard assistant manager until the end of the season. I’m sure he wants to gain as much experience as possible and he won’t become Rangers manager until 18/19. His experience as a Champions League winning captain would be invaluable if we make it to Kiev.
Just makes sense.

Get gerrard in the assistant role

Is Buvac leaving? The timing is really bad. Could Gerrard step in as assistant? Even Xabi Alonso… Hyppia? …….

Gerrard should now say no thank you to Rangers, and become #LFC assistant. 😉

Zeljko Buvac leaving because someone at the club is desperate to see Gerrard stay and offered him an assistant position, anyone?

Of more relevance to Rangers than getting scudded 5-0 is the Liverpool assistant job coming free. That’s a big carrot to keep Gerrard at the club should they so wish

Could this be what is holding up Gerrard’s talks with Rangers? Do you think the ex-England captain would perhaps rather stay in a promoted position at Anfield?
