Atletico Madrid stopper Jan Oblak made a wonderful one-handed save against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League quarter-finals tonight… begging the question, is he the next David De Gea?
Atleti have travelled to Lisbon knowing that while Arsenal, Lazio and Marseille are all still alive in the competition…they are much-fancied to eventually lift the trophy.
And it’s comes as no surprise that Diego Simeone’s team are the favourites, especially when you see this magnificent stave from Oblak.
The Slovenian international showed his world-class reflexes when ex-Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates managed to direct this header toward goal:

Yup, De Gea would have been proud of that one!
However, while Oblak’s save will probably be the save of the evening, it hasn’t meant much in the grand scheme of things… as Sporting Lisbon have since opened the scoring and lead 1-0 at the break.
With the tie now sat at 2-1 on aggregate in Atletico’s favour, Oblak may be called upon again to secure his side’s progress into the next round.
And we aren’t betting against him producing the goods!
