Video: Everton Fans Back Wayne Rooney After He Snubs Allardyce’s Handshake

Wayne Rooney was absolutely furious with Sam Allardyce after being substituted in this afternoon’s Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park, and it seems a lot of Toffees supporters are sticking by the ex-England captain.

Rooney was given the nod to start in midfield earlier today in the showdown against Everton’s bitter city rivals Liverpool, but his appearance lasted just 55 minutes, before Allardyce decided to replace him with Idrissa Gana Gueye.

As Rooney headed off the pitch, he snubbed his manager’s attempt at a handshake, before snatching his subs jacket and mouthing a few angry words under his breath:

At 32, everybody knows Rooney’s better days are well and truly behind him, and he’ll know himself that he’s going to be subbed a lot more often as he gets older.

But today’s events seem to have won the backing of the club’s supporters – or, a whole lot of them, at least:

What do you think of the situation? Should Rooney have been a bit more patient than he was?
