Video: Sam Allardyce Jokes About Jurgen Klopp Being More Popular Than He Is

Sam Allardyce joked about Jurgen Klopp being more popular than he is after holding a quieter press conference this afternoon ahead of Everton‘s Merseyside derby with Liverpool.

Both managers held their pressers around the same time today to talk about tomorrow’s early English Premier League clash.

But it seems Klopp’s press conference was a bit busier than Allardyce’s – and that led the Everton manager to joke about his rival being more popular with press in the city.

As he took a seat for the beginning of the chat, Allardyce made the joke, per reporter Tom Munns:

We say it’s a joke – and Allardyce had a good old laugh at it – but he’s not wrong. Klopp is just coming off the back of a big 3-0 win over Manchester City in midweek and tomorrow’s game is sandwiched between that and the return leg of their Champions League quarter final.

And, at Everton, Allardyce has won just two of his last five games – so we can understand some of the press deciding that the Klopp presser might be a bit more worthwhile.
