Steven Gerrard knew it was game over for Manchester City after Mo Salah‘s goal for Liverpool last night.
The Anfield legend was in the BT Sport studio watching on as Jurgen Klopp’s men won 2-1 at the Etihad to seal a 5-1 aggregate victory and passage to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Despite the three-goal cushion going into the game, it was Liverpool who started nervier and gifted a goal to City when Gabriel Jesus scored inside two minutes.
But they regained their composure to go in at the break just a goal down – and Salah popped up 10 minutes after half-time to strike a killer blow against City’s comeback.
After Firmino was crowded out by Ederson Moraes and the City defence, Salah picked up the scraps in the box before brilliantly dinking the ball over Nicolas Otamendi and into the net.
That led Gerrard to say the game was over as he was being filmed in the BT Sport studio:

He proved to be right too as Liverpool went on to score through Roberto Firmino to ensure the final stages of the game were straightforward.
Now they join Roma in the last four of the competition and will wait on the winners of two more ties tonight before thinking about their next challenge.
