The 24-year-old arrived from Villarreal for a fee of around £30 million back in the summer of 2016 and was one of Jose Mourinho’s earliest signings at Old Trafford.
His initial performances looked very promising, with supporters under the impression they’d managed to snap up a genuine gem but his 2017/18 season certainly didn’t follow that path at all.
Bailly has been left on the bench for many of United’s biggest games this season, with both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones regularly making mistakes whilst playing ahead of him, and it was a similar story during Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley.
Bailly didn’t manage to get off the bench, leading to speculation that he could be seeking a new club this summer, but his latest social media post certainly doesn’t read like someone who is heading for pastures new:

We would have liked to have finished the season by winning the FA Cup. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Nevertheless, we’ve wrapped up a season in which there were ups and downs. Now it's time to stop, to learn from this season, to rest, and to enjoy our families and friends so we can come back next season even stronger. We’re eager to set new goals and to see lots of smiles in the stands at Old Trafford next year. Thanks for the support you have given the entire team throughout the season. And especially, thank you very much for the love you have always shown me. Let’s go United! 🔴 And good luck to my teammates who are playing in the World Cup! 💪🏾
He’s struggled with injuries during his spell in England too, but with his country not appearing in this summer’s World Cup, perhaps next season could finally be the year that Bailly manages to fulfil his potential.
What do you think?
