The 29-year-old winger was in action for the Republic of Ireland against Celtic in Scott Brown’s testimonial on Sunday afternoon, and put in an eye-catching display in the 2-2 draw, which took place in-front of a sellout crowd.
The midfielder has been with West Brom in the English Premier League for the last three years but has always been vocal about his lifelong support for the Premiership champions.
And after taking part in yesterday’s exhibition match, McClean was asked about the prospect of turning out at Parkhead on a more permanent basis, following West Brom’s relegation, and he told Celtic TV: “That’s always been the dream.
“Unfortunately that’s not up to me. If it was up to me it would have happened a long time ago.
“Who knows? Fingers crossed. Maybe one day.”
McClean was given a warm welcome by the Celtic supporters yesterday, many of whom would probably love seeing him in the iconic green and white jersey more regularly.
But would he fit into the current Celtic set-up? And would Rodgers fancy splashing out the wages and transfer fee it would take to bring him north?
What do you think?
