Michael Stewart doesn’t appear to be having the argument that Steven Gerrard‘s appointment at Rangers ‘puts Scotland back on the map’.
The BBC Scotland and BT Sport pundit has been among those to give his view on the new Ibrox manager after he was announced to take over the role from June 1st on a four-year deal.
It’s an ambitious appointment from Dave King and the Rangers board considering Gerrard is relatively inexperienced in managerial terms.
But the reputation he’s got from illustrious playing career makes it an appointment that can grab headlines and bring more focus to the Scottish game.
Stewart doesn’t necessarily agree with that though:
“Gerrard appointment puts Scotland back on the map”
Anyone coming out with this
needs to have a wee look at themselves…….and a map 🗺🏴— Michael Stewart (@mstewart_23) May 5, 2018
As you can see from the interaction on Stewart’s tweet, that has grabbed attention – no doubt from plenty who agree as well as a lot who disagree.
But is it correct to say Gerrard’s appointment won’t have as much of an impact on the profile of the game in Scotland?
