Nobody is Believing Rangers Are Really Going to Sign Jermain Defoe This Summer

England international Jermain Defoe is the latest big name being linked with a sensational summer move to Rangers – but pretty much nobody is willing to believe the veteran striker will be rocking up in Glasgow.

Defoe – who turns 36 later this year – has struggled to break into the first-team at Bournemouth this year, and could well be looking for a new club during the current transfer window.

After moving to the South Coast club last summer, Defoe had hoped a decent season could help springboard him into contention for the England World Cup squad, but the former Spurs and West Ham striker managed just four goals, and looks certain to now move on from the Cherries.

The Daily Record claim he’s being eyed-up by his former international team-mate Steven Gerrard for a surprise swansong in Glasgow – but the remarkable story is proving pretty hard to swallow for some onlookers:

Given his prestigious reputation and sizeable weekly wage, do you think there’s any chance at all that Rangers could sign Defoe?
