Nobody’s Buying Rumours of Rangers Bidding £4M for Martin Skrtel

Rangers are once again being linked with a big-money move for defender Martin Skrtel – but few fans are willing to believe the Scottish club are willing to fork out the money being reported.

The no-nonsense Slovakian centre-back has been linked with a transfer to the Ibrox club since his former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard was announced as the Gers’ new manager, and he could certainly be doing with strengthening his new defence.

Skrtel has been with Turkish giants Fenerbahce since being sold by Jurgen Klopp back in 2016 and reports in Turkey – via the Scotsman – are now claiming Gerrard has asked his new paymasters to sanction a whopping £4 million bid for Skrtel.

However, given he’s 33-years-old, and the fact that Rangers are known to be pretty cash-strapped at the moment, there’s not many people willing to believe the stories:

Is there any way Dave King and the Ibrox board could ever sanction a deal like this for a player in the winter of his career?

What do you think?
