Rangers have confirmed that Jamie Murphy has signed on permanently at Ibrox.
The Scottish winger had been on loan at the club in the second half of last season, joining from Brighton after failing to make an impact in the first half of their English Premier League campaign.
That loan came with Rangers being the only club with an option to buy them this summer.
And after playing very well in his first five months as a Rangers player, Murphy has now been signed up on a permanent deal.
Rangers confirmed that this afternoon in a statement on rangers.co.uk, which read: “Rangers are delighted to confirm today that Jamie Murphy has joined the club on a permanent contract.
“Murphy joined the club in January on loan and has now penned a three-year contract at the Club for an undisclosed fee.”
Murphy shared his reaction to the move too, saying: “I’m delighted to make my move to Rangers permanent. This club means a lot to me and it already feels like home.
“Whilst I’m naturally disappointed we didn’t complete the objectives that we set for ourselves last season, I am more determined than ever to help this club to be a success.
“With the new manager in place, two new signings confirmed already and an exciting summer to follow, I can’t wait to get started on the next chapter of my Rangers career.”
Steven Gerrard has already moved to sign Scott Arfield and Alan McGregor this week and the Murphy news will add to the positivity among the Rangers fans.
Of Murphy’s signing, the incoming Rangers manager said: “It’s more good news for the club that Jamie has committed his future to us ahead of the new campaign.
“He had an impressive start to his Rangers career in the second half of last season and we hope to see him continue to grow at the club next season and beyond.”
