The stats show that life with Virgil van Dijk has been a lot easier for Liverpool than without him.
The Dutch defender has only been at the club since January, joining in a £75million move from Southampton after spending the first season struggling for the Saints.
But he’s made a massive impact at Anfield, playing 21 times for Jurgen Klopp’s men as they sealed a top four place and a spot in the Champions League Final next week.
It was no secret that Liverpool struggled defensively before van Dijk, but when you see the numbers, it really hammers home how good he’s been since joining:

That is exactly the sort of impact Klopp, the club and the fans would have been hoping van Dijk could make after signing him, but did anyone expect him to improve Liverpool so quickly?
Alongside Dejan Lovren he’s forged a formidable centre half partnership and has no doubt played a big part in Andy Robertson’s development at left back in the second half of the campaign.
Everyone at the Reds will now be hoping he can continue his brilliant form and inspire them to a Champions League win over Real Madrid in Kiev.
