Video: Mario Balotelli Scores Two Minutes Into His Return Match For Italy

Mario Balotelli made his long awaited return for the Italian national side tonight, and it took the maverick striker just two minutes to find the net against Saudi Arabia.

Having been bombed out by previous manager Gian Ventura and Antonio Conte, Balotelli hasn’t played international football in more than 1,400 days and didn’t kick a single ball as Italy failed in their qualification bid for the 2018 World Cup.

The Azzurri won’t be in Russia next month but still met up for a friendly tonight in St. Gallen, Switzerland, against a country who will be competing in Russia, and it wasn’t long before it became clear why new Italy boss Roberto Mancini has recalled Balotelli:

The 27-year-old is out of contract with French side Nice this summer, and having scored 25 goals in 36 matches last season, could he be on his way back for a third spell in the English Premier League?
