The Scot is now a coach at Motherwell and is remembered most recently for finishing his career at Fir Park.
But he began it at Celtic, breaking through into the Hoops’ first team in the 2003/04 season before going on to make 203 appearances for the Glasgow club.
In his seven seasons as a first team player, McManus played alongside some top players in big games – and they don’t come much better or bigger than Boruc and United.
The Polish goalkeeper was the man in between the sticks for that game and actually saved a late Louis Saha penalty to help the Hoops qualify for the last 16.
And McManus has told how Boruc crashed his bubble bath session the day after as he reflected on what was a famous night.
Speaking to open-goal.co.uk‘s Si Ferry, McManus told:
There’s no doubting Boruc was a big character and a story like that will just add to Celtic fans’ positive memories of him.
