Former Liverpool and England skipper Gerrard was paraded in-front of jubilant Gers fans at Ibrox earlier today after signing a four-year contract to take his first senior role in club management, and he’ll be doing battle against his former coach.
Of course, Rodgers was manager at Anfield when Gerrard was captain, and the two are known to still enjoy a close relationship – with Gerrard previously linked with a swansong at Parkhead towards the end of his playing days.
Despite saying all of the polite things in public, Sutton reckons Rodgers won’t be best pleased behind closed doors, and insists the Northern Irishman will demand a transfer war-chest of his own this summer:
"People talk about Rangers being a sleeping giant, they've been out for the count for years.
Celtic have money in the kitty, and I don't think Brendan is going to like it."@chris_sutton73 believes Gerrard's arrival at Ibrox will see Celtic respond in the transfer market 👀 pic.twitter.com/AQzk3Ql5a9

There’s absolutely no denying this’ll be one of the most fascinating Old Firm duels in many years – but does Gerrard stand any chance of coming out on top?
