Celtic know their Champions League qualification first-round fate, with a clash against Armenian champions Alashkert kicking off their European campaign – but a match with Norwegian cracks Rosenborg lying in wait in the second-round.
As we’ve told you previously, the Hoops are being forced to play a whopping four two-legged ties in their bid to reach the Champions League group stages for the third consecutive seasons, and it seems the opponents aren’t getting any easy for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Should they beat Alashkert, Celtic will come up against either Rosenborg or Icelandic champions Valur, with the Norwegians heave favourites to progress.
Celtic managed to beat Rosenborg over two ties last summer, but the 1-0 aggregate score was too close to call for a lot of supporters – and there’s plenty who would’ve rather had a much easier second-round opponent:
Drawing Rosenborg in the 2nd qualifying round is a stinker.

Celtic played Linfield in QR2 last season, will likely play Rosenborg in the same round this season. Tougher to say the least.

Good news for Celtic: Rosenborg have not started the Norwegian league as well as last season.
Bad news: On good form, they are still more than capable of beating Celtic over two legs.
It’s a very tough draw, especially considering it’s only the second round.

That Champions League setup is a shambles. Win 7 titles in a row and have to play 4 qualifiers, with a team like Rosenborg possibly in the 2nd. Smoke my pipe UEFA!

Rosenborg will be looking for revenge. Let's hope Dembele Griffiths and Eddie are all fit this time around.

Ffs Rosenborg again

Hopefully the possibility of a tie with Rosenborg hastens our transfer activity…..potentially a very tough tie.

Sickening, brutal having to play 8 qualifying games as it is but to play against such a difficult side like Rosenborg so early on just makes it even more difficult, surely one of the hardest ties we could have got? #CelticFC #UCL https://t.co/DLERgiXX2H

Rosenborg the potential opponents for Celtic so early on in the Champions League qualifiers. Ouch. Would prefer them later than mid-July, if at all.

Should Rodgers and the club’s fans be really concerned at the prospect of facing such a big name so early in qualification?
What do you think?
