Cesc Fabregas Jokes About Winning Spain Call-up After News Breaks of Lopetegui’s Sacking

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has stuck the boot into shocked Spain coach Julen Lopetegui following his shock sacking earlier today, joking that he might actually get a recall now.

Spanish football fans were left reeling this morning when the Spanish FA confirmed they’d sacked the incoming Real Madrid boss just two days before their World Cup opener against Portugal.

Fabregas had been a mainstay in the La Roja set-up for the best part of a decade but struggled for any sort of game time once Lopetegui was appointed, with the former Arsenal and Barcelona play-maker omitted from the 23-man party travelling to Russia this month.

Replying to BBC pundit Gary Lineker on Twitter today, Fabregas didn’t seem to be too upset about the breaking news:

What do you think of the dramatic events? And should Fabregas still be a regular for the Spanish national side?
