Morris, who played alongside Lampard’s during their playing days at Stamford Bridge, as well as at England Under-21 level, is the new Rams manager’s first addition to his coaching staff since arriving at Pride Park.
But Morris’s departure will be keenly felt behind the scenes at Chelsea, where he has been hugely successful in his role as Under-18 boss, having helped lead the youngsters to a whopping five consecutive FA Youth Cups earlier this season.
Morris was earmarked by many to be a future Chelsea first-team manager, but it appears he became tired of waiting for an opportunity, and he’ll now be trying to help Lampard mastermind promotion to the Premier League – much to the disappointment of Blues supporters everywhere:
Ugh.. We're gonna lose probably our best youth coach ever if he joins Super Franky in Derby. There is only one Jody Morris! Offer him something, Chelsea. Winning the FA Youth Cup. Not 1, 2,3,4
…but 5 YEARS IN A ROW. He is brilliant! Board is embarassing if they let him go!

With Jody Morris leaving, we lose all our identity at our club. Change is needed. #cfc

A big loss for the club but good luck to Jody Morris at Derby. Deserves it

Jody Morris is a big loss to Chelsea. No one at the club ready to take over from Laurent Blanc when he gets sacked in November.

Big loss for Chelsea FC if Morris leaves but I hope it helps with his chances at becoming Chelsea 1st team coach/manager in the future

Jody Morris will be big miss for Chelsea. Hopefully loan players will benefit from this deal.

If we lose Jody Morris to Derby & him becoming Frank Lampard's assistant it's yet another FUCK up from us. Becoming a joke. Jody should be around OUR 1st team, let alone Derby. He should be in the running for our manager's post. Beginning to really fall out of love with #CFC.

Should Chelsea have done more to try and keep Morris at the club?
What do you think?
