Could Scott Allan be set to get a chance at Celtic this season?

The Scottish midfielder has been at the Hoops since signing from Hibs back in 2015.

At the time, it was seen as a significant signing for Celtic as they swooped in ahead of Rangers to sign the highly-rated playmaker.

But Allan has played 17 times since, with all of those appearances coming in his first season before he was sent out on loans to Rotherham, Dundee and, most recently, Hibs.

So as he returned to Celtic this summer for the final year of his contract, there’s been plenty of discussion around his future.

A successful second half of last season at Hibs means they may be interested in signing him this summer, while there are others who are no doubt interested in taking him.

But will Brendan Rodgers look to offload him? Or could Allan be set to get a chance this season?

Celtic are back in pre-season and Allan was involved in their friendly win over SK Vorwarts Steyr last night – and some fans believe he showed that he could have a part to play in the coming campaign:

Rodgers has some quality options in the number 10 role at Celtic, with Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor his preferred options in that position last season.

But he’s sold Stuart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts returned to Manchester City this summer so there is a need for more creative options in the final third.

Celtic fans – could you see Allan getting a chance under Rodgers?
