Derek McInnes sounds confident of Aberdeen’s chances against Burnley in the Europa League.
The Dons manager spoke to the media this afternoon as his side returned to pre-season training.
And they should be bouncing into their sessions after yesterday being drawn with English Premier League overachievers Burnley in the second round of Europa League qualifying.
Usually, it’s been some unknown team from an obscure part of the world for Aberdeen, but this time they’ll get a Battle of Britain clash that McInnes sounds very motivated for.
Burnley are in the competition after finishing seventh in the English Premier League last season.
However, McInnes doesn’t seem too worried about that and knows his team are capable of coming out on top in next month’s tie:
đź’¬ Derek – You can’t help but be excited about the prospect of games against Burnley.

đź’¬ Derek – Burnley have waited a long time to get back in Europe and I don’t see them treating it lightly.

đź’¬ Derek – I feel we have an opportunity to win a very tough tie and one that the players will relish.

Of course, Aberdeen have a lot to prove in this game after going out in qualifying over the last few seasons so they’ll be as strong as they possibly can be for the challenge of Burnley.
But Sean Dyche’s team should also be strong as they look to start a historic European adventure.
