Gerrard officially took over the reins in Govan on June 1 and will be plotting behind the scenes to try and overhaul the current Gers squad, which finished third in last season’s Scottish Premiership – and 12 points behind bitter rivals Celtic.
Solanke is one name who continues to be mentioned as a possible target, with the 20-year-old struggling to break into Liverpool’s star-studded attack under Jurgen Klopp, and managing just six starts last season for the Reds.
A loan deal continues to be mentioned as a possible route for Solanke to move to Glasgow, and as his future hangs in the air, the man himself has been quoted by the Sun as saying: “Gerrard’s a legend. He has done so much for Liverpool and for football.
“I’m happy he has got the Rangers job and it will be good for him.
“I’m intrigued to see how he’s going to do.”
Given veteran Kenny Miller has departed Rangers this summer, and loanee Jason Cummings looks unlikely to return, a striker will be a crucial bit of business for Gerrard – but is Solanke the man to fill the void?
What do you think?
