There was a good exchange between the Hoops and the Saints on Twitter as the English Premier League side donated to the Celtic Foundation as royalties paid for the Stuart Armstrong song.
Southampton yesterday signed the Scotland midfielder from Celtic and used the chant created by the Hoops fans to promote the signing.
And after donating today, Celtic’s official Twitter responded to their English counterparts to say thanks – but it appears they couldn’t resist a dig at rivals Rangers too.
Or at least that’s what supporters think.
They tweeted this in response to Southampton:

And this was the response from some Celtic supporters:
"a club who pays its dues"

Those Celtic fans have obviously got the joke.
Armstrong has joined Southampton on a four-year deal and he’ll immediately set about improving Mark Hughes’ team as they look to avoid another relegation dogfight this season.
