The season might be over but Manchester United pulled off one of the coups of the summer this evening after snatching the soul away from Bayern Munich‘s official Twitter account.
In case you missed it, the Red Devils have agreed to take on the Bavarian giants in a pre-season friendly in the Allianz Arena on Sunday August 5, which will be their final warm-up match ahead of the new Premier League season.

As is usually the way these days, both clubs’ social media accounts indulged in a little bit of banter following the announcement, with Bayern joking about how useless English clubs are when it comes to taking penalties.
However, they were soon left regretting it, with United’s media team delivering an absolute belter of a reply:
Just as well that we didn’t need them to beat you in the #UCL final back in 1999 then, isn’t it? 🙄 pic.twitter.com/fllThHNaDd

Unsurprisingly, Bayern didn’t have much of a comeback to that and, to be fair, they did really walk right into it.
To whoever sent that tweet – well played. Well played, indeed.
