Given Jose Mourinho has arguably the best goalie on the planet to call upon in David de Gea, the likelihood of any other shot-stopper breaking into the starting XI at Old Trafford any time soon would seem pretty remote, but back-up for the Spaniard is still needed.
Argentine international Sergio Romero is still on the books at United but suffered an injury which ruled him out of the World Cup several weeks ago, and given promising youngsters Dean Henderson and Joel Castro Pereira are being sent out on-loan for next season, Mourinho has felt compelled to delve into the transfer market.
According to the Telegraph, 35-year-old Grant will sign a one-year contract, and whilst he probably won’t play any Premier League matches for United, plenty of fans really aren’t too pleased:
I understand Lee Grant will be third choice, but I cba if he is actually gonna play a game next season. Never watched him, but man isn’t even first choice at Stoke. There are surely better options for a third keeper? I swear to fucking god if he is one of our 4 rumoured signings

Fellaini 32 getting a new 2 years contract breaking a club trend to renew for only one year if the player is older than 30, Bonucci 36 being mentioned as Mourinho's first choice defender, Lee Grant 35 will be our 3rd choice GK. What a great time to be alive.

Lee Grant > Big Dave #MUFC

Lee Grant? We already have Pereira, Johnstone, O Hara, Henderson. What an underwhelming and unnecessary move. #MUFC

Why are United interested in 35 year old Lee Grant to have as a 3rd back up keeper, should give a youth goal keeper the chance rather than a shit 35 year old to just sit there getting a decent wage

United in talks with Stoke over a possible deal to bring 35 year old goalkeeper, Lee Grant, to Old Trafford. The banter era will never end.
We're begging Fellaini to stay and now want Lee Grant. The banter era is still in full flow.

Should United supporters really be this annoyed at the signing of a third choice goalie?
What do you think?
