Nobody Can Believe Leroy Sane Isn’t Going to the World Cup with Germany

Leroy Sane has been omitted from Germany’s World Cup squad – and pretty much nobody can believe the Manchester City star will be spending the summer at home.

Having established himself as a first-team regular under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad last season, Sane went on to play a crucial role in the club’s Premier League and League Cup double, and was considered one of the best young players in English football throughout the 2017/18 campaign.

The 22-year-old was called up for Germany’s weekend friendly defeat to Austria but it seems the jet-heeled winger hasn’t done enough to secure his seat on the plane to Russia.

Manager Joachim Löw revealed his final 23-man squad this afternoon, and there was simply no room for Sane – much to the surprise of onlookers all over Europe:

It seems that Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt was the man selected ahead of Sane in the final squad – but what do you make of the decision?

Will Germany still be in with a shout of winning the competition?
