Our Pick of The 5 Coolest Kits Gracing This Summer’s World Cup

Our Pick of The 5 Coolest Kits Gracing This Summer’s World Cup

The biggest prize in world football will be up for grabs in Russia later this month as the planet’s best international sides battle it out for the prestigious Jules Rimet trophy.

For football addicts it’s the best time of the year, but for kit nerds like us, it’s all about the new strips that’ll be on show.

Here, we give you a run down of the five coolest and classiest uniforms set to grace this summer’s World Cup…

Nigeria’s shirt might have become so popular – as the three million pre-orders, small item on the evening news about the queue on Oxford Street  testifies – that it’s hard to classify it as still being ‘cool’, but it’s already the star of the WC 2018 without a ball being kicked.

The Nigeria home jersey is, for us, the nicest on show of all 32 teams competing in Russia, and it became one of the world’s fastest selling shirts of all-time for a reason.

Look at it. Just look at it. What a work of art.

Colombia Home

This vibrant and modern jersey draws heavy inspiration from Colombia’s 1990 home kit, but with tweaks to the colour layout and extra detail on the red-and-blue stripes.

Manufacturers Adidas have sought about paying homage to the country’s dedication to attacking football and, in our opinion, it’ll definitely be one of the coolest jerseys on show in Russia this summer.

Germany Away

A rare example of more being more.

Adidas have gone big on the 45-degree stripes and oblongs on their shirts this time around, but while the Spain and Colombia strips are still pretty restrained, this one for the tournament favourites is anything but.

The chevrons and triangle patterns make it stunning to look at, whilst it also pays homage to the world champions of 1990.

Well played, Adidas. Well played indeed.

France Away

France are really doing well with this set of strips this year. The home jersey lends to a modern look for Les Bleus, but it’s the white away shirt that really steals the show.

The blue and red dashes throughout that give the jersey a much needed extra pop from the plain white jerseys out there, making it one of the best international shirts produced by Nike in any a year.

Iceland Home

When basically the entire nation of Iceland descends on Russia, they’ll be doing so with one of their classiest-ever looks.

The home blue jersey is awesome with the white shoulder blades and red pattern on the sleeves and whilst it’s manufactured by the slightly unfashionable Errea, the Iceland shirt already has a sort of retro feel about it.

It might not jump out at you right away but we reckon this’ll be a must-have for collectors many years down the line.
