There might be a World Cup in less than two weeks, but that didn’t stop Croatia striker Andrej Kramaric committing this horrendous challenge on Brazil defender Thiago Silva this afternoon.

The two countries are completing their final World Cup warm-up match at Anfield ahead of this summer’s tournament in Russia, with Brazil amongst the favourites to lift the famous trophy.

However, their hopes of securing a sixth world title nearly took a serious blow after Kramaric left his mark on skipper Silva.

This one isn’t for the faint hearted:

Luckily there was no long-lasting damage to PSG star Silva, who eventually returned to his feet and didn’t need much in terms of medical attention.

We can only imagine the outcry on social media had Silva been forced off and after such a shocking challenge!

Kramaric is a very lucky boy!

Brazil are in Group E for the World Cup, which contains Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia.

Meanwhile, Croatia are in Group D, alongside Lionel Messi’s Argentina, Iceland and Nigeria.
