Kylian Mbappe embarrassed Marcos Rojo with some electric pace to win a penalty for France against Argentina.

Didier Deschamps’ French side went into today’s first last 16 game as favourites following their comfortable passage through a group with Peru, Australia and Denmark.

Their opponents Argentina on the other hand really struggled in the group phase, drawing their opening match 1-1 with Iceland before losing 3-0 to Croatia in their second.

Thankfully for Jorge Sampaoli, Argentina were able to beat Nigeria 2-1 in their final game to book a place in the last 16 against France.

But the first half of their tie in Kazan today shows why France are favourites to go through and Argentina look like a side in serious turmoil.

Mbappe has been the player of the game so far and it was his ridiculous pace that punished the Argentines early on:

Antoine Griezmann was on hand to fire home to give France the lead – and you have to worry for Argentina now.
