Marcus Rashford fired a timely warning shot to countries all over the globe tonight by scoring an absolute screamer in England‘s final World Cup warm-up match.
The Manchester United star was played alongside Jamie Vardy against Costa Rica in this evening’s friendly at Elland Road, and it took the 20-year-old a measly 13 minutes to get on the score-sheet – leaving Real Madrid’s first-choice shot-stopper Keylor Navas without a prayer:
Bang! What a strike from @MarcusRashford! @England lead against Costa Rica!#ENGCRC pic.twitter.com/3aMYymLDPI

Rashford is by no means an automatic starter for England, and was probably only given the nod tonight due to the fact that Harry Kane is injured and Raheem Sterling has been given a rest.
But given he can come up with slices of magic like this at a moment’s notice, surely Gareth Southgate has to do everything he can to make sure Rashford is in his starting XI when their World Cup campaign gets underway against Panama later this month, no?
We hope Jose Mourinho was watching closely.
Well played, Marcus. Well played indeed.
