Scotland coach Peter Grant has singled Celtic winger Lewis Morgan out for praise, following his solid showing against Peru earlier this week.
Morgan came off the bench during Scotland’s 2-0 loss to La Blanquirroja, and while the former St Mirren star was unable to affect the overall outcome, it appears he did enough to impress Alex McLeish’s coaching staff.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s friendly with Mexico in the Azteca Stadium, Grant described how Morgan is the type of player that Scotland fans traditionally warm to.
Grant added that Morgan’s ability to get fans out of their seats was the “icing on the cake”… perhaps hinting that Morgan could play a bigger role against Javier Hernandez and co. tonight?

Morgan enjoyed an outstanding campaign in the second-tier of Scottish football last season, playing an instrumental role in securing promotion for St Mirren, before Celtic completed a deal to bring him to Celtic Park in January.
Despite his switch to the Hoops, Morgan spent the second half of the season on loan at the Buddies.
But with Grant clearly impressed with his attitude, it looks increasingly likely that we could see him star in a Celtic jersey next season.
