Roy Keane has slaughtered Iran manager Carlos Queiroz, saying the only regret he has is not ripping his head off during their time together at Manchester United.

Portuguese coach Queiroz enjoyed two spells as assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson and played a key role in Keane’s acrimonious departure from the Red Devils back in 2005.

Keane was shown the door by Ferguson after a bitter fallout, and ended up signing for Celtic before retiring due to a hip injury, but the Irishman certainly hasn’t forgotten his run-in with Queiroz.

Queiroz is now in charge of the Iranian national side, with his side facing Spain in the second of their group phase matches tonight, and ITV are covering the match for UK television – with Keane speaking as a pundit.

He certainly didn’t hold back when asked for his thoughts on Queiroz:

Personally, if we were Queiroz, we’d definitely steer well clear of Keane – for the rest of his life.
