Video: Southampton Rub Salt into Celtic Fans’ Wounds When Announcing Armstrong Deal

Southampton have completed the signing of Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong this evening – and really rubbed salt into the wounds of hurting Hoops supporters as they announced the news.

The Scotland international has put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract at St. Mary’s after deciding to call time on his career at Parkhead, with Brendan Rodgers’ side pocketing a cool £7 million for a player with just one season remaining on his current deal.

Losing the 26-year-old to the English Premier League had seemed inevitable for some time but and when the news broke of Southampton’s move last week, it probably didn’t come as much of a surprise to much of the Celtic support.

But the fact the Saints media team decided to unveil their new capture in a video complete with Celtic fans singing their favourite chant about the midfielder in the background would’ve definitely raised a few eyebrows, and might seem like a bit of a low blow to some:

Whilst it’s been sang about by Bhoys in the past, it now looks like Stuart Armstrong’s glorious hair will be the muse for supporters south of the border.

What do you think of the move, and the clip?
