Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has taken time out from the club’s pre-season preparations in Spain to send a message of support to a Gers fan battling for his life.
Lifelong Rangers follower James Maxwell, 55, from Glasgow has been disabled for most of his life after being diagnosed with meningitis at the age of just 18, and according to the Sun, now has just days to live after contracting sepsis and deciding himself to end treatment.

A whole host of Rangers stars, past and present, have either been to visit James in hospital, or wished him well on social media, and today saw the turn of the gaffer to send a few kind words which we’re pretty sure would’ve put a smile on James’s face:
How amazing is this. Steven Gerrard sent a mesage of support for James. He is so emotional after watching it but over the moon. He's loving the support and thanks for everyone x pic.twitter.com/AfuYkRbs87

Regardless of who you support, it’s impossible not to be moved by the effort and time taken from the Rangers family to make James’s final few days as memorable and enjoyable impossible.
Everyone involved deserves a big pat on the back, and hopefully James is feeling a lot better after Gerrard’s message!
