Steven Gerrard spoke about Rangers’ opening Scottish Premiership fixtures, his rivalry with Alan Stubbs and more new signings on his first day of pre-season at the club.

The Ibrox manager started his job on June 1st, but the real work began today as his players reported to the Hummel Training Centre for the first day of training.

Most of the squad reported for action as they begin preparations for their Europa League qualifying campaign, which will kick off on July 12th.

And Gerrard seemed in good spirits as he spoke to the media about a whole host of topics, including the fixture schedule – which was released today – and his rivalry with St Mirren manager Alan Stubbs.

Gerrard also gave his view on Rangers’ signing strategy moving forward:

As Gerrard said, Rangers will head to Spain for a short pre-season break as they step up preparations for the season.

And once they take care of the Europa League qualifying campaign, they’ll kick off their Scottish Premiership season against Aberdeen in what is the game of the opening weekend.
