Paul Pogba was mercilessly booed by his own fans last night, as the Manchester United midfielder struggled during France’s World Cup warm-up friendly against Italy.
Pogba looked off the pace at Old Trafford last season, with Jose Mourinho cutting a frustrated figure as he was unable to get the best out of the former Juventus star on a consistent basis.
And while this summer’s World Cup will offer the 25-year-old a short-term escape from the pressures of playing for United, his luck on the pitch is yet to change for Les Bleus.
Just take a look at this abysmal shot Pogba had against the Azzurri, if you don’t believe us:

Despite Pogba’s ‘speculative’ effort, Didier Deschamps’ team dispatched of Italy with relative ease, with Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele and Samuel Umtiti among the goalscorers.
Griezmann defended his team-mate after the final whistle, telling reporters that despite a tough season, Pogba remains confident.
The Atletico Madrid striker said, “The whistles are part of football, you have to stay tough mentally. We’re all playing for the same shirt. He plays his game, you’re used to him scoring. We don’t expect that from him, only that he rotates the ball and plays for the team.
“He has had a difficult season at Manchester United but he has a lot of confidence in himself.”
