The 21-year-old has been linked with a one-year loan deal to join the Premiership side, and whilst temporary deals might not sound brilliant to many fans, we reckon signing Sadiq could be just what the doctor ordered…
All the attributes Rangers crave
Sadiq might be young, but he is lightening fast, strong and powerful to boot. His rangy, long-legged runs quickly turn defensive situations into attack, and defences who leave space in behind do so at their own peril.
Rangers tried to solve their need for a target-man last summer with flop Eduardo Herrera – but now they might finally have the solution in Sadiq.
Roma believe in him
The Romans forked out £2 million for his services from Spezia, and he managed to score two goals in six Serie A games before he was sent on short loan spells with Bologna and Torino.
They might be keen for him to get more game time and experience, but it’s unlikely Roma would even consider sanctioning a permanent transfer at this stage.
Performed well abroad
Sadiq spent the second half of last season on loan with Dutch side NAC Breda, where he netted an impressive five goals in 13 games.
NAC are thought to still be hopeful of bringing the 21-year-old back for the 2018/19 season.
Exciting international prospect
Sadiq caught the eye on a global stage when he scored four goals at 2016 Olympics for Nigeria.
The Africans finished third in the tournament, claiming the bronze medal, and finishing behind only Neymar’s Brazil and World Champions Germany.
His four goals made him the joint second-highest scorer in the competition.
Premier League interest
Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Sadiq, with some reports even claiming Arsene Wenger was willing to part with as much as £16 million for the imposing forward.
