Bad News For Celtic as Moussa Dembele is Confirmed to Miss Rosenborg Games

Celtic have been dealt a blow for their Champions League qualifier with Rosenborg after Moussa Dembele was confirmed as an injury miss for both games.

The Hoops face the Norwegians in Glasgow this Wednesday in the first leg of their second round qualifier and fans could have been forgiven for being more confident going into this one.

As opposed to being without a fit striker for the games against Rosenborg last season, both Dembele and Odsonne Edouard looked fit and firing going into this tie.

But the powerful French forward went off with an injury late on against Alashkert last week – and it’s now been confirmed by Brendan Rodgers that he’ll miss the next two or three weeks.

Speaking to the Celtic View, per, Rodgers said: “Moussa will be out for a few weeks.

“Thankfully it’s not a longer-term hamstring. Sometimes these things can be six to eight weeks but it’s not that – it’s two to three weeks maximum. It was unfortunate for him as he’s looked very fit in pre-season.”

Dembele has had hamstring issues in the past so Celtic will be desperately hoping this doesn’t turn into a long term injury.

But provided they can get past Rosenborg then it looks likely that Dembele will return to action in time for the next round against AEK Athens.

Celtic fans – how big a miss will Dembele be?
