Brendan Rodgers Gives His Thoughts on Šimunović Red Card and Rosenborg Rematch

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has given his thoughts on Jozo Šimunović‘s red card, as well as a looming rematch with Norwegian cracks Rosenborg, following his side’s comfortable win over Armenian side FC Alashkert.

The Hoops progressed to the second-round of the Champions League qualifiers thanks to a 3-0 win in Glasgow on Wednesday night, which handed them a 6-0 win on aggregate following last week’s convincing victory away from home.

But Rodgers was given a scare when Simunovic was given a straight red card after just 11 minutes of the second-leg, and will now be suspended for next week’s clash with Rosenborg – whom Celtic defeated in the Champions League qualifiers last season.

In his post-match presser, Rodgers gave his thoughts on the decision to dismiss his centre-back, as well as how he feels about coming up against the same opponents as last summer:

Celtic have the carrot of reaching the group stages of the competition for the third consecutive season, and the financial windfall that comes with it, but do you think they’ll pull it off?
