The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the club’s most promising up-and-coming talents under Brendan Rodgers, and his goal in Saturday’s friendly win over Standard Liege underlined Johnston’s potential to challenge for a first-team berth this season.
Johnston also caught the eye when he scored a sensational solo goal for Scotland Under-21s against England at the Toulon Tournament in June, and he seems to possess all of the abilities to be a real star for club and country in the coming seasons.
With that in mind, the Sun are claiming St Mirren are weighing-up a season-long loan deal for Johnston, whilst Neil Lennon’s Hibs are also rumoured to be in the frame.
Should he stay or should he go out and get some regular top-flight game time under his belt? This lot certainly seem conflicted:
I see similarities between mikey Johnston and aiden mcgeady. Mcgeady never went on loan so Johnston shouldn't either. I think he's good enough already. The game against Ireland in May proved it

I like wee Mickey Johnstone….could be a Belter…..but I think if guaranteed….a loan move would be good get him used to the top flight needs to bulk up a bit as well like wee Paddy done

St.Mirren want Mikey Johnston on loan. Gonna be honest, I'd give him a run in our side. He's an exceptional talent.

Never understood why Celtic are trying to get Harry Wilson on loan. Instead, we should be giving the chance to Mikey Johnston, who is full of talent and a very skilful player.

It would be a sensible decision to let Mikey Johnston go on loan. Very much a lad for the future. I'm not sure St Mirren is the best place for him as Lenny also very interested HH pic.twitter.com/pe3ShZgXMz

I would keep Mikey in the squad this season Morgan/Sinclair for the left and Forrest/Johnston for the right. Injuries do happen and he would get game time. Loan Hayes out instead.

Mikey Johnston’s too good for St Mirren. Would easily play every week for Aberdeen or Hibs.

Mikey Johnston looks really promising but I'd support him going on loan. He's not gonna get in ahead of Moussa or Eddy

No fuckin way r we loaning Mikey Johnston 2 Hibs

Mikey Johnston will eventually become first choice this season and no one can stop it

Feel we should keep mikey Johnston better option than Johnny Hayes

What do you think Johnston should do?
