Celtic Fans’ Dream of Signing Alexandre Pato Takes a Hit

Alexandre Pato’s presence in Austria looks more like a coincidence than him being there to sign with Celtic.

The Brazilian striker has emerged as a surprise name linked with a move to the Hoops this summer – all by his own doing after a couple of tweets and one of his latest Instagram posts showing him in Austria while Brendan Rodgers’ side are there on their pre-season tour of the country.

That last update got fans thinking this could actually have legs despite nothing coming from the club or sources to indicate there’s any interest in the Tianjin Quanjian striker.

Instead, it looks like his presence in Austria is much easier explained thanks to one observant fan on social media.

As pointed out by Keith Robertson in the wake of Pato’s Austria update, his Chinese Super League team are actually in the country too preparing for the resumption of their league later this month:

They actually play Dynamo Kiev in a friendly in Tyrol on Thursday before heading back to China to restart the CSL on the 17th.

So Pato is in Austria, but sadly for Celtic fans it looks certain that it has absolutely nothing to do with signing for their club this summer.
