Celtic Fans Very Excited About Mikey Johnston After His Friendly Goal

Celtic fans are very excited about Mikey Johnston following his impressive performance in their win over BW Linz.

The Hoops have two friendly games on the go today, going up against the Austrian side in a closed doors match before facing Sparta Prague later this afternoon.

So Brendan Rodgers has obviously taken the chance to field two squads for the games – giving players more of an opportunity to get game time as well as impress him ahead of the Champions League qualifiers kicking off against Alashkert next week.

Rodgers has lost Patrick Roberts and Stuart Armstrong this summer, two players who have contributed plenty in attack over the last two seasons.

And that means there’s an opportunity for other players – whether old or new – to show they can fill the gap left.

Maybe Johnston could be set for more game time this season after reports he set up a goal and scored one himself in a 2-1 win over BW Linz.

The game wasn’t televised, but Celtic’s official Twitter account’s coverage of it suggests Johnston was a top performer.

Now these supporters hope he gets a run in the team:

Johnston has made five first team appearances under Rodgers, but injury last term robbed him of more involvement with the top team at Celtic Park.

Maybe this will be his campaign to really make an impact.
