Despite Short Chelsea Statement, Players Pay Big Tributes to Antonio Conte

Chelsea may have had little to say about Antonio Conte as they confirmed he’d left the club today – but the players were very different.

The Italian manager has had to deal with almost constant speculation surrounding his future at Chelsea, ever since winning the English Premier League just over a year ago.

At the time there was talk of a breakdown in communications between Conte and the club’s hierarchy, but he continued in charge of the team last season, leading them to fifth in the table and FA Cup success.

And even this summer it looked like he could have held on in the job at stages.

However, the Stamford Bridge outfit finally announced his departure in a surprisingly short statement via this afternoon.

You’d think the club really weren’t happy with him going by that.

But the mood of the players – past and present – is different, with many taking to social media to eulogise about Conte – even Chelsea legend John Terry had some positive words:

You’d expect more tributes to come too, with some Chelsea players still involved in the World Cup and no doubt concentrating on that over what they do on social media.
