It’s not coming home in boxing – it’s here – the summer break is beginning to show signs of a slowdown in boxing and this next fortnight is testimony to that. Tonight Saturday the 7th of July, whilst the World Boxing Super Series will come later this month, the ordinary WBA belt will be the subject of a title fight in Kazakhstan when that cruiserweight title shall see Beibut Shumenov take on Hizni Altunkaya and my money is on Shumenov. This is a good contest and whilst all eyes are on, quite rightly, the unification bout for all 4 major belts in the WBSS final, this allows other cruiserweights the chance to find a way in to see themselves pitched against the winner of that final…
In the UK and in Dudley we have 6 fights by comparison…
Tomorrow, Sunday the 8th of July in Bracknell there are 12 fights whilst at the tail end of the week, Friday the 13th of July in York Hall in amongst 15 fights we have the welterweight clash between Scotland’s John Thain and Larry Ekundayo with the hope that Thain manages it but he is up against a very seasoned campaigner in Ekundayo whilst middleweight Harley Benn is back in the ring. In Stoke-On-Trent on the same night there are also 5 fights.
And with this, I am having my ain summer break so see ye all in about 3 weeks!!
