England‘s World Cup dream was ended in Moscow earlier tonight when Croatia managed to edge them out in a tense semi-final – and it appears Harry Kane is taking the brunt of the criticism following the exit.
Gareth Southgate’s side went into the encounter as favourites to reach Sunday’s final against France, and looked nailed on to do so after a brilliant first-half performance saw them 1-0 ahead at the break.
What a chance this was for Kane! Could have been 2-0! #CROENG #WorldCup pic.twitter.com/bkC0kjRhxB

But Kane somehow managed to squander a gilt-edged opportunity to make it 2-0, and in the end it came back to haunt England in extra-time.
Ivan Perišić equalised to force extra-time, and Juventus striker Mario Mandžukić delivered the crushing blow with just 12 minutes to go, and Kane’s glaring miss began to look more and more crucial.
All in all, Kane didn’t play well all night, and after enjoying a string tournament, the Spurs forward is going home taking a boat-load of stick from his own supporters:
Unpopular opinion: we deserved to lose then, after half time we were poor. And if you cut back like Harry Kane from 2yds out and hit the post and miss you’re not a big game player like Ronaldo and Messi #CROENG

I'm sorry but Harry Kane was dreadful the entire game. I know he's our golden boy but he was not up for that game at all.

Harry Kane must be the worst player ever to be Deemed elite.
Very very limited ability and simply goes into hiding when matters most.— Mr Ayre (@Mr_Ayre) July 11, 2018
Harry Kane needs to take those chances.. its so poor.

I bet Harry Kane wishes he converted on that golden chance in the first half now.

I blame Harry Kane. One clear chance he’s had in this tournament, fluffed it. Shit house

If Sterling would have missed that Kane chance, a Tory Cabinet member would have resigned in protest.

I’m going to be having nightmares of that Kane chance over and over in my head

If I had to say one thing. Kane was between the centre backs three times all game. And they lead to two of the biggest chances of the game. He spent the rest of the 120 chasing full backs. Why?

Oh wow I didn’t realize Kane had Raheem open across the line on that missed chance
— Willingham (@WeavusChrist) July 11, 2018
Are they gonna talk about Kane missing a chance that was easier to miss than score?
— Blasé (@Crooks_SL) July 11, 2018
That Kane chance is gunna give me nightmares 💔
— Luke Wheatley (@LukeWheatley8) July 11, 2018
Imagine IF Kane had finished THAT chance in the first half…

If harry Kane was injured why play him?
— Omar (@R9Omar1) July 11, 2018
Oh FFS all of a sudden now Harry Kane is “surely” carrying an injury. Maybe he just bottled it. We’re talking abt a player that can’t score a premier league goal in August for Christ sake. #notworldclassyet

Does Kane really deserve this level of criticism? Was he really that bad?
