The 26-year-old England international has reportedly agreed a three-year contract at the London Stadium and will join up with new manager Manuel Pellegrini pending a successful medical.
Wilshere has always been synonymous with North London side Arsenal having come through the ranks at the Emirates Stadium, but it turns out he’s always been harbouring a soft spot for another side in the capital – his prospective new employers.
Speaking via the Sun, Wilshere explained: “My whole family were West Ham fans, I was a West Ham fan, still have a soft spot for them of course.
“I used to love them. I had all the shirts.
“I think I had John Moncur on the back. That’s how long ago it was!”
Wilshere has struggled badly with injuries over the past two or three seasons, and that probably cost him his place in the England squad at this summer’s World Cup.
But can he successfully resurrect his career with West Ham? And do you buy his claims that he’s always been a secret Hammers fan?
